JPRA is the only research journal in the leisure services administration field. In 1994, Park and Recreation Magazine stated that JPRA "made considerable headway toward bridging the gap between research and practice". JPRA provides data-based research articles written by top practitioners and educators in leisure services. JPRA is a forum for management and organizational analysis of the delivery of park, recreation, and leisure services for practitioners, academicians, and students. Subjects include planning, finance, programming, personnel, evaluation, organization and administrative practice, administrate theory, and marketing and promotion.
