Frequently Asked Questions

There is a number of reasons this could be happening.

Make sure you have gone to and created an account so you are issued an AdobeID.

This AdobeID then allows to you to download Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) and install it on your computer. ADE is a program that reads digitally-protected ebooks - Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat cannot open these files.

You may be required to authenticate ADE on your computer. Go to the ADE Help menu and click on 'Authorize this computer.' Enter your email address and your AdobeID. This will authenticate your computer and enable you to open your ebook within ADE. If 'Authorize this computer' is greyed out, your computer is already authorized - please read the following paragraph.

You might have to tell your computer how to open the file that opens your ebook (from the link on your 'My Account' page). The file is called 'urllink.acsm' - .acsm is the filetype that has to be associated with ADE on your computer.

We have instructions for implementing this file association for Windows and for Mac.

You must fill out an online form in order to receive approval prior to shipping any products back to Sagamore Publishing.

Review/Desk Copies

Yes, please follow the same steps as instructors, but please note these two important issues.

  1. Only you will have access to download any resources (instructors guide, PowerPoint’s…etc) that come with the book.  You will have to download and send a copy to the instructor.  Unless they have their own account, they will not have access.
  2. This will only work if the instructor wants a printed desk copy. Ebooks will not work unless they are requested by the actual end-user's account. Due to the nature of eBooks, how they are download, and the security measures that are involved, any instructor that wants an eBook must have their own account.  This is required for the eBook to be downloaded correctly directly to the device that it will be used on.  Once an instructor has their own account, they must login from the device they want the eBook on (computer, tablet, phone…etc.) and download it directly.

If you want to create and manage an account for each instructor, that is acceptable as long as you use their email address and name when creating each account.
