Professor Lamke served San Diego State University (SDSU) for more than 50 years. He was chair of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism for 14 years. He was elected vice-chair of SDSU’s Faculty Senate for two separate terms and then spent two additional terms as chair of the Faculty Senate. He led SDSU’s Freshman Success Program for four and one-half years; was project director of Camp Able at Coronado, an aquatic-based summer day-camp for children, youth and adults for 39 years; and was president of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association. More recently, Professor Lamke served on the SDSU Research Foundation’s Board of Directors and was Chief Academic Advisor to the Marriott China Hospitality Education Initiative.
