Dr. Ming-kai Chin received his Ph.D. in exercise physiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA in 1985 and was the Head, Sports Science at the Hong Kong Sports Institute from 1987 - 1995.
He was also the former Head (1998 - 2000) at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Hong Kong Institute of Education from 1995 -2005 and was a Professor, School of Health, Physical Education and Leisure Services (HPELS), University of Northern Iowa, USA.
Currently Dr. Chin is the Vice President, Global Affairs and Research, HOPSports, USA.
His research interests lie in the fields of human performance, physical activity, health and fitness, IT and Problem-based Learning in teaching and learning.
An editor of 7 books and author of over 160 publications in scientific and sports journals in English and Chinese, Dr. Chin has given over 110 keynote and invited presentations, and over 80 paper presentations in North America, South America, South Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia Pacific Region.
He was the recipient of the first Wild and White Visiting Scholar Award ( 2002 - 2003 ) at the University of Northern Iowa; Fellow of AIESEP and Research Consortium of AAHPERD and is one of the four Founding Members; Former President (2005-2008) and Secretary General (2009-2011) of Asian Council of Exercise and Sports Science (ACESS); Editor-in-Chief of Asian Journal of Exercise and Sports Science (AJESS), member of Board of Directors, Conference/Event Manager of World Leisure Organization and the former Course Director of Sports Science, Hong Kong Olympic Academy, Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong-China.
