Rachel E. Smith is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and an instructional assistant professor at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois, where she teaches courses in Therapeutic Recreation and Recreation Management.
Smith has a background in inclusion in public parks and recreation and is a longtime disability advocate. She has served on various committees to advance the rights of persons with disabilities.
She has a research interest in universal design, social justice, and inclusion in higher education.
Smith and her husband, Chris, live with their sons, Brady and Kellan, and two fur babies in Normal.
Smith enjoys learning and continues to take courses, attend, and present at conferences and join in workshops and webinars whenever possible.
