T. Scott Lyons

Scott Lyons has been at Western Kentucky University since 2004, where he serves as associate dean for research of the College of Health and Human Services and director of the School of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport.

He went to college at The University of Alabama, where he earned a BA in history with minors in English and psychology and an MA and PhD in exercise physiology. Lyons’ research interests are primarily focused on cardiovascular physiology, post-exercise metabolism, and exercise immunology.

In 2007, Lyons founded, along with James Navalta of the University of Nevada–Las Vegas, the International Journal of Exercise Science (IJES). IJES is an international, open access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of student-led research.

Lyons and Navalta still serve as coeditors-in-chief, and the journal is now in its eighth year of publication.
