Misti Gilles, Sales and Marketing Director for Sagamore-Venture (second from left) accepts, on behalf of Peter Bannon and Joe Bannon, an award from ATRA past-president Marilyn Radatz, acknowledging Sagamore's many years of support for the association.
The annual ATRA conference was held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on September 13–17 at the Amway Grand Plaza hotel, a lovely place for a conference.
Peter usually attends this conference for Sagamore-Venture but had a conflict this year, so I attended. As an exhibitor, I enjoyed seeing therapists and professors in one place, learning about the profession they are so passionate about.
ATRA’s mission is to "empower Recreational Therapists"—that is exactly what they did at this conference. The sessions were full of eager learners.
Making Connections was the theme for this year's conference, and I saw many people doing just that. Those who came to our booth were looking for something to further their education or career, and we have what they need.
ATRA also gave Sagamore-Venture's Peter and Joe Bannon an award for their support over the years.
This year's attendance at the conference was more than 900. I am looking forward to the next ATRA conference!
