The Therapeutic Recreation Journal is the renowned quarterly publication of the National Recreation and Park Association in cooperation with Sagamore Publishing LLC. The Journal provides a national forum for research and discussion on the needs of persons with disabilities, problems confronting the profession, new vistas of service and receiving therapeutic recreation services.

Published articles are the expressions of the authors and are not statements of policy of the National Recreation and Park Association, Western Illinois University, or Sagamore Publishing LLC.

Marcia Jean Carter

Marcia Carter is the Assistant Dean, College of Education and Human Services at Western Illinois University-Quad City. She received her Re.D. in recreation, adapted physical education from Indiana University, her M.S. in recreation, adapted physical education from Indiana State University, and her B.A. in health physical education, recreation, secondary education from Hanover College in Hanover, IN. Her professional interest are therapeutic recreation professional standards, certification, accreditation, programming, aging, and camping. Marcia enjoys swimming, running, camping, hiking, and bicycling in her free time.
